Rust of yesterday

unexpected consequences

Standing still on an isle away

I never imagined I would see the day

My former friend is that you?

You look suprised to see me

After all you put me through

You came with the dawn and gone with the night

You brought me strife ,my biggest fights

my Victory i celebrated alone with no one in sight.

Through the Mirror now we meet

different but the same

Young and old

The Coward and the bold

a published book and a Story untold.

Am I Rust or iron?

The man or whats left of him?

The machine or the force within?

The visiting time is almost over

I think as i watch the black and White frame

On the rusted pages of the old days

Never to Change never to meet

Thank you and Goodbye again.

“You can rest now for I forgive you” I speak out as i close the book and put the blurred photos away.”

What a powerful poem. Sometimes I wonder about looking back through my photos, albums or school year books but I look forward so much to a brighter future that I tend to not look back much anymore.

I have had several people in my life that I think looked forward to how much grief they could give to me and then there are other family members and friends that think they are watching out for your best interests but they are crushing my dreams and don’t even know it.

Looking back is important, but closing putting the past away at times is also just as important so we can focus on a brighter future.

Exactly. Look back but dont move back.we all have such People in our lives but in the end after alls said and done you have to let it go.Also I wish you a brighter future as well

I am not sure that I understand this poem correctly. Is it about forgiving somebody who has died or perhaps someone who has been put in jail? I can see however that it is a lovely poem about forgiveness.

I especially like the last line of the poem – You can rest now for I forgive you” I speak out as i close the book and put the blurred photos away.”

Close.Let me clarify, I know I Sound confusing at times.

The only Thing that died here is my old mindset and the Trouble it brought me.

I was Angry first at everyone else till i discovered it was me to blame and that stung.

Yet after its over and the grief has gone the memories are all that remain.

And I didnt want that to be a place of grief anymore.

      So I forgave myself.

And rust reffers to an old photo Album, a place where Moments are stored.

      Im glad you liked it.

Wow, that’s a powerful poem, powerful lines.

Looking back to the past, remembering the good and the bad, some memories are perhaps better left in the past. I love the ending of your poem “you can rest now, for I forgive you.” Forgive yourself … Forgiving oneself may be one the hardest lessons to learn, but it is so important. Forgive yourself for past mistakes … Our past cannot control our present.

Sometimes I look at old photos and I think of past events, and there are some that I don’t want to think of, because they take me back to people I may not want to remember. Then, there are also some great memories, some unforgettable ones.

    I loved your poem!

I don’t know if you’re a poet but I do like this poem with an in depth meaning which I might have a different opinion about but one way or the other I feel it questions myself and answers some desperate questions I’ve been searching for a long time now, defining your past from the present. Looking forward to more positive articles from you.
